You might also have a problem if you use a proxy to allow your anti-virus scanner to scan your incoming mail since you'd have to chain the two proxies. file to assign it the value 127.0.0.1 (assuming you are not using IPv6). If localhost is not defined on your Mac you need to edit a hosts. Before you do that copy any messages you want to save to a folder in "Local Folders". If I'm correct you will need to delete your existing Hotmail POP account and then create an IMAP account, pressing the "Manual Config" button in the second screen on the new account wizard. "mBox Mail for Mac" doesn't replace the normal SMTP server, it only replaces the POP3 server. ![]() That is consistent with your ability to send messages, but not read them. I suspect you have a POP account with the normal Hotmail settings, that you had been using before you installed "mBox Mail for Mac". However, you appear to be using "mBox Mail for Mac" that emulates an IMAP account, by having you connect to its gateway server.php#other claims you should use localhost as the IMAP mail server on port 9143, with a insecure connection (no SSL). Describes the normal settings for using a Hotmail account.
